What a surprise! I have won an award from time-worn interiors. I am so new at this; now I am really encouraged. You are supposed to tell six things about yourself and pass them along to 6 other bloggers so here goes!
I am a born-again Christian and love my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is first in my life and next is my husband and family. That rings positive with my husband because he is a believer too. I love to see Jesus in other people, and the hand of God in the lives of others.
I have a wonderful husband who is very encouraging when it comes to me doing my thing with creativity (as long as he doesn't have to unload the trailer every time I get a brainstorm). Actually he is quite good with that too. He is my best friend.
Between us we have 4 grown children and 7 grandchildren.
It is great to keep up with my kids and their spouses and the grandkids. We enjoy texting each other. I send long texts and my oldest grandson sends me 3 words back for an answer. After I read between the lines, I know what his answer means! His mom and I laugh about it. I have grandchildren in Indianapolis, Leitchfield, Ky, and Hana, Hi. Needless to say, I get to see some of them more than others, and I often wish I could see them all the same. I enjoy taking them hunting and horsebackriding.
I love collecting, everything! My favorite collections are blue swirl graniteware ( which I display in my kitchen) and antique white ironstone. My aunt collected ironstone and I always admired it growing up. When she passed away, I was able to buy a few pieces from her estate. They are treasures among numerous other pieces.
I still love to paint. I painted commissions for so many years. Now I just enjoy painting what I want when I want. My current work is a large oil of our Jack Russells and Lab laying in front of the kitchen fireplace, where it will hang...eventually.
I treasure my friendships. It is wonderful having old and new friends, friends who enjoy different things, friends who like antiquing, friends who will go trailriding, friends who have no time lapse even when you haven't seen them in ages.

Log Cabin Reconstruction

I added photos of our log cabin reconstruction on our farm. Click the photo of the cabin and the pictures will be full size. Someday we will have an antique sale at the farm.My husband and I rebuilt this log cabin on our farm in TN. The cabin was built in the mid 1800's and operated a saw mill in our area. It was going to be torn down, so we bought it and reconstructed it with a few modifications. The original buildings were two cabins and a connecting dog trot inbetween. We made the dogtrot wider and enclosed it for an entry. We also added height with a kneewall to create a full upstairs where the old cabin just had one low loft over the livingroom. With the kneewall, we were able to make two fullsized partial-loft bedrooms and a full bath inbetween. We have been working on it for 3 years and have just gotten the doors and windows in and the front porch on. Hope you enjoy the album. The pictures do not reflect our sweat and tears. It was a much bigger project than either of us anticipated, nor did we know what we were doing! Trial and error all the way!

What a day today. I was reminded that we are to pray for our leaders (which includes our President). I guess it is time to get started even if he was not my choice! It is still such beautiful weather. I decided to postpone the painting of our guest room and get outside for awhile today. I juiced a whole pan of crabapples for jelly. I have never made it, but the amount of juice needed was on the sure-jell package and I am going to try it. All of the fruit trees were soooo abundant this season that I hate to let it all go to waste. I have canned and frozen like no other year since we moved here from Kentucky 10 years ago. I am still on overload with apples and pears even after letting all my friends and neighbors pick. Pecans are falling of the trees too, and we have picked up at least a bushel and also given them away. Thought I would post a few fall pictures since it is so pretty this week. It does not sound like it is going to stay that way much longer.

Old maple tree in the front yard.

Camelia blooming by the garden shed chair.

Zinias blooming by the poolside.

A few remaining Hydrangeas at the corner of the house.

Brought all the patio plants in the greenhouse for the winter. This is the best it will look all year. It will be all downhill from now on as I will forget to water them. Two winters in a row I forgot to turn the heat up on the coldest nights. I have good intentions.

Mums blooming by my watergarden with "Depo" our JackRat looking for fish. The mums were given to me by my kids in Indiana for my birthday in March; doing well for a second bloom.
View at the farm.
God bless you.

Sunday Trail Ride

Wanted to share a few pictures our a trail ride from Sunday. It was such a gorgeous day. My friend Lauren and I went to Normandy Lake to try our our two-year-old Tennessee Walking Horses. Lauren has a palomino spotted filly, Dixie, she raised, and I have a sort of bay roan , colt named Fire. I raised him from my redroan trail mare. Neither of us had taken them on the trail so it was a test. Fortunately both horses behaved quite well, and we were both so pleased with them. We even took them down to the water to drink while waves were coming in. Neither youngster flinched. That was really good. I don't get to go real often, so it is always a pleasure to get out on the trail. Both of us ladies thoroughly enjoyed our day, and spent most of the trip home discussing when to go again.
