Log Cabin Reconstruction

I added photos of our log cabin reconstruction on our farm. Click the photo of the cabin and the pictures will be full size. Someday we will have an antique sale at the farm.My husband and I rebuilt this log cabin on our farm in TN. The cabin was built in the mid 1800's and operated a saw mill in our area. It was going to be torn down, so we bought it and reconstructed it with a few modifications. The original buildings were two cabins and a connecting dog trot inbetween. We made the dogtrot wider and enclosed it for an entry. We also added height with a kneewall to create a full upstairs where the old cabin just had one low loft over the livingroom. With the kneewall, we were able to make two fullsized partial-loft bedrooms and a full bath inbetween. We have been working on it for 3 years and have just gotten the doors and windows in and the front porch on. Hope you enjoy the album. The pictures do not reflect our sweat and tears. It was a much bigger project than either of us anticipated, nor did we know what we were doing! Trial and error all the way!
